Witnesses gave conflicting testimony over who was the aggressor of the fight
and both Zimmerman's family and Martin's family have claimed it was their
relative who could be heard screaming for help in the background of a 911 call
during the fight.
Zimmerman wasn’t arrested in the shooting for weeks, after a public outcry.
Bill Lee, then the police chief of Sanford, said Zimmerman was justified under
Florida’s stand your ground self defense law. Lee lost his job after the
incident, and a special prosecutor was appointed to argue the case.

So, now that Bill Lee has been vindicated in his decision that Z was justified, does he get his job back with all pay he missed? Can he sue?

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Zimmerman was not "vindicated". Not by a long shot. In a criminal trial, the question is whether or not the state can prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he the accused committed a crime. "Not guilty of a crime" doesn't mean that what Zimmerman did was right.
Now comes the civil trial and there, it's probably going to be that Zimmerman will be found that he was at fault for the death of Martin.
I'm not saying Zimmerman was vindicated. Read the last paragraph again. BILL LEE, the sheriff there, was fired for NOT arresting Z. Yet as Z was found not guilty, why fire the guy who DIDN'T arrest him for it?
