That's one for the good guys

An interesting story I read over at Yahoo Today. Seems that even if you pay your fucking "rent" on your land to the government, they can't keep their sorry asses out of it. (Like we didn't know that already!)

Here's the feel good paragraph that caught my eye:

As the state officials worked to resolve the issues with Turtle Island, the Republican-dominated legislature introduced a bill to exempting "primitive" camps and farms — including "sheds, barns, outhouses, doghouses" and other structures — from the building codes. GOP Gov. Pat McCrory signed the bill into law on June 12. (bold by yours truly)

I can understand building codes and safety requirements in a town or city environment. Buildings are usually stacked one on top of another, and if one were to catch fire, it'd be the Chicago fires started by Mrs. O'Leary's cow all over again.

I can even understand ordinances to keep the lawn mowed, and get the broke down car off the blocks in the front yard. People invest in their property in neighborhoods, and nobody wants to buy in an area where there is squalor.

But this is a ridiculous concept for ANYONE living outside the town's demesne. Americans are, deep down, true pioneers. Inventors. Down right ingenious in our ability to do shit with limited means. There is an amazing number of engineering concepts that America has developed far in advance of the rest of the known world that have increased the well being and comfort of modern life.

Electricity: America.
Cars: America.
Telephone: America.
The fucking computer I'm writing this on: Damn Straight! America!

Even the internet was invented by Al Gore*.....Well, anyway, he's an AMERICAN!

The only restriction to an American living 'the dream' is our own government. And in the story posted here, I'm PROUD of our government that listened to the people. And I would have been extremely disappointed by any less in a state that has a city named Boone...

The rest of the story is here.

*I know, I know, but I just had to do it.....
