Thank you, Damon Linker

I subscribe to the  The Week emails. Not because I agree with it, but its always good to get into the head of the enemy your opposition, to know how they think and to get a clue as to what they intend.

So far, it hasn't helped much in this endeavor. I read it, reread it, have my wife read it and try to explain it to me, and she don't get it either!

Take this article by Damon Linker. No really. Read this thing: I'm Not A Democrat. I'm An Anti-Republican. Then when you're done laughing or puking, depending on your constitutional tendencies, come back here and read the rest of this post.

Here are some excerpts and my own personal thoughts. (Yes, I have my own thoughts, usually involving twins...):

I never supported (sic) the Bush administration and its legion of defenders in Washington and around the country justified in terms that struck me at the time as highly ideological, fundamentally anti-empirical, and more than a little paranoid.


Anti-empirical? I still don't know how I feel about the whole Iraqi thing. At this point, what does it matter? It happened a long time ago.... But I am one hundred percent sure I am anti-empirical. Especially when it comes to the United States. And I will bend no knee to any man. Especially one as un-Constitutional as He Who Would Be King Obama.

Today, my voting record says I'm a Democrat. I voted for Kerry in 2004 and Obama in 2008 and 2012. I nearly always support Democrats in House, Senate, and gubernatorial elections. But I don't identify closely with or feel deep loyalty to the Democratic Party, its agenda, or its electoral coalition.
If a guy is against bestiality, (and no, I'm not into puppy porn) you don't go suck another guys dick to make your point. If you suck a dick, and you're male, your a homosexual. If you vote for a Democrat, guess what? You IS a Democrat!

Four people died in the September 2012 attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens. It was a tragedy. It was infuriating. It deserved to be investigated.
And it has been. Nine times.



They never tell you that in the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare, the ruling was overturned by a panel of judges consisting of seven rabbits and a turtle. Apparently, the Hare didn't rest, he was overcome by smoke inhalation in the safe room...

Mark my words: If the GOP takes the Senate in November, giving Republicans unified control of Congress, Barack Obama will face impeachment proceedings over this issue. The party and its technologically amplified, rabidly right-wing base will demand nothing less.
Amen!

(Of the October 23, 1983 bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut): And how did the Democrats who ran the House of Representatives respond? With a two-month-long investigation and some reprimands for the military. Then it was over. And Reagan went on to win re-election in a landslide less than a year later.
That was the behavior of a party that put the good of the nation ahead of its own ideological fervor and electoral ambitions.
And that two month investigation was by Democrats looking diligently for malfeasance or outright wrongdoing. I'm totally convinced they did all they could to 'get to the bottom' of it. And Reagan won by a landslide less than a year later.
Obama lied and the facts have been obfuscated over Benghazi to allow our current ruler to continue his reign of tyranny, and his accomplices who have been proven liars and prevaricators are being promoted. Is this 'good of the nation over ideological fervor?

And then the hero of our story goes on to illuminate the many "incontrovertible proofs" of the Republican Party's obviously skewed way of thinking. While totally ignoring the fact that not one of these actions, whether they be good, bad, or indifferent, in any way negate the tenets of the Constitution. Not one violates the rights of American citizens.

And no, I don't call myself a Republican. And I'm obviously no Democrat. I am a Constitutionalist. Period. I feel as strongly that radical Right is as bad as radical Left. We need government, but we need government that leaves us alone to live our lives in such a way as to allow the pursuit of happiness. Not just the pursuit of not being prosecuted.

So thank you, Damon Linker. Not only have you demonstrated in your article that you are indeed a Democrat, but you have admitted that there is reason to impeach Obama, and if the republicans take over Congress, justice will be served!
