Will we be ready?

I just read a post over at SHTF Plan, Where Selco talks about the beginning days of the Balkan War. It starts out with a graphic video of a baboon eating a gazelle. Not suitable for liberals.

See, a lot of sheeple out there forget that nature is often brutal. Nobody gives a rat's ass if a spider catches a grasshopper and chows down, but take a cute little gazelle and have a nasty, dirty baboon have a snack, and they all go full bull goose crazy!

Nature has no concern for fair. And people, like it or not, are part of nature. We surround ourselves with a shell of civility, but in the end, we are natural omnivores who kill our food as readily as that baboon.

One of the things that separates us from the animals we eat, is our capacity for evil. The baboon isn't intentionally being brutal, its surviving. Its not hurting the gazelle for fun, or some perverted need for superiority. Its just eating food.

To get back to the basic premise of this rant, when is it that we decide its time to shit or get off the pot? For Selco, it was when an ambulance driver got shot taking a wounded man (also killed) to the hospital.

The Ukraine is worth watching. Its a good example of what could very definitely happen here. The most significant aspect for me is that most of those rioting aren't really trying to change anything. Most of them are the same one's who did whatever the government told them, discontented or not, until finally one person just looses it and throws an empty bottle at a cop. Then another frustrated individual picks up a rock and chucks it too. Pretty soon, everybody is throwing makeshift missiles, burning cars, the hoodrats come out with their illegally gotten guns, and unless it is quelled immediately by the PTB, it becomes a battlefield. And battlefields are the foundation on which wars are built.

We've had rioting here. Over rice, over government control, over gasoline. Over fucking race. Just because it hasn't happened in your quiet little cul-de-sac where you park your two cars in the garage before going in to hug your 2.3 children, and sit down to a lovely meal prepared by your June Cleaver wife, doesn't mean there's not a baboon eating a gazelle (figuratively!) two  blocks away. And not doing it for survival, but because human baboons really are monsters.

I grew up in an era where the house was never locked, the keys were left in the ignition so you knew where they were, and kids played outside in the dirt, not inside on the (insert game module of choice here).

Now, my door is locked at all times whether I'm home or away. I check to make sure my car is locked and all the windows up every time I get out of it. I carry steel for protection, and make my wife carry a stungun. If someone knocks on my door, I answer with one hand resting on a gun on a shelf beside the door.

The baboon eating the gazelle on the plains of Africa isn't a monster. We are. The mob mentality that brings out the animal in us is the monster. And its not we the III that are the ones rioting. Its the sheeple themselves. I can't speak for the rest out there, but I will not be rioting. I will not be running to the store for last minute provisions. I will be home. Hoping to make it through the beginning so that I will still be here to help make it end. Mobs only encourage tyranny. It gives them the validation to shoot back. And once the shooting starts, its all hands on deck.
