He'd shoot you just as quickly.

Here we have a typical cop on a typical calll, doing what cops typically do.

1. Arrives at the scene.
2. Gives orders with one of two outcomes:
     a. The orders are followed, and the cop gets his 'big man' jollies,
or
     b. The orders are not followed and the cop shoots the 'perp' because he was being 'threatened'.

Now, in this case, it was a dog. But do you believe this guy would act differently if it were a person?

Actually, he probably would. But the problem here, is we are NOT persons. We are 'perps', 'suspects', 'POI's'. We are 'targets' and guilty until proven innocent. And even then, since they KNOW you were guilty of something, you're still on their list.

I was a houseparent (read that guard) at a facility for drug offending miscreants of the teenage persuasion. Most at least as big as myself, most about a third my age.

We were not given guns, tasers, stunguns. We were taught to restrain these poor little darlings in as comfortable a position as possible, until they came to their senses. (Plus, they all knew damn well I could take more pain then they could give while giving more pain then they could take. Discretely, of course.)

We were there to protect these little lost lambs. We had to go to training to ensure we didn't look down on this 'hood scum as Juvenile Delinquents but rather with the respect and consideration for their rights that these gangbanging copshooting dregs of society deserved. (See how sweet I was there?)

This cop in the video linked to HERE*shot a man's dog, then goes and starts threatening the owner with being arrested. He could have sat in his car and called for animal control. There didn't appear to be any one in immediate danger. He could have got on his loudspeaker, and addressed the house. Hell, he could have tried being NICE to the doggies.

But they aren't trained that way. You WILL obey. I am the LAW. Simon Says!

Come shoot my dog. Bring a friend.
