Deter Through Strength

That was the motto of the first US Navy ship I served on; the USS Edward McDonnell, long since decommissioned.

As a young sailor, still only 17, this motto impressed me. It made sense. We were the greatest country in the world, with the finest fleets existant. And I was a part of it. You can't know the pride I felt in being a part of something so Monumental until you've experienced it yourself.

There is no Memorial to the "Eddy Mac" (as she was called*). But if there were, no power in hell or on Earth could keep me from it!

But I'm sitting here this morning thinking about how our own government is now our biggest enemy. How did this come about? Its because America has the most PATRIOTIC people in the world. We love our country, and have historically allowed 'just one more tax' to fund it. To keep the military strong. to have the ability and strength to stay a free nation. To deter through strength.

So, what exactly are all these taxes paying for? A military being stripped of its international prestige? The same military obama plans to use against US if we refuse to bow to his dominance?

What have we used our military FOR anyway? To topple other governments whose actions do not directly effect us; to support regimes in order to 'get in on the bottom floor' of the oil produced outside our country? To bully and harrass as we see fit in order to show the rest of the world you don't fuck with America?

So who's fucking with us? Our own government. Personally, I agree to a mighty nation having a mighty fighting force to fight FOR it if ever THREATENED by imminent invasion. But can you picture ANY country including the 'yellow horde' of China actually trying to physically take charge of a well armed AMERICA, even without a military presence? Joe Bob Redneck should be good for half a hundred a day if he can get a hunting license for 'em! Times that by about a couple million of us. So much for the 'horde'.

And if we as Patriots allow our OWN government to walk all over us, isn't that just showing foreign powers that we will ALLOW ourselves to be walked over? Countries like China won't invade us, they'll instead BUY us. Its a lot harder to stop that type of takeover than shooting some invading soldier from the bushes! Our government is supposed to be there just FOR such action, not to SELL us to them in the first place!

Our 'foreign aid' policy is ludicrous. You want to aid a foreign country? Start with North America. Build up a FAIR and independent system with Mexico and Canada. They have our North and South borders. Make it reasonable to become a citizen of our great country. That will do more to keep out 'unwanted' illegals than our non-existant fences, while increasing the tax base.

Our taxation system is ludicrous. Jackbooted thugs is the image that comes to mind. A country that WILLINGLY gives its money to fund government that WE THE PEOPLE supposedly control, shouldn't have to use threats to imprison its citizens or confiscate their property. The "IRS" should be the most meek agency on the face of the planet! Instead they use Gestapo techniques to insure compliance to a 'code' that NO ONE can understand.

Our own land can be taken for not paying the government rent on it. How then, do we "own" this? We must pay a yearly rental fee on our cars, our kids, our schools, EVERYTHING we touch or use throughout our day is taxed and retaxed every time its used. Our government should be the most funded entity in the world, yet we sit on a deficit in the trillions, and rising daily by billions, so our sitting ruler can take vacations to Africa, Hawaii, golfing, concerts in the White House, (which WE THE PEOPLE can no longer visit?). When's the last time a father of two in this country could take a vacation with his family and not have to save for months if not years to AFFORD the two weeks off from work to take his brood on a REAL vacation? Worry free, and time for idle relaxation?

It has been said that the only power in the world that will defeat America is from within.

And we are ALLOWING it to happen. You, me, our grandchildren's futures. All we have and all we are given up to support an out of control government more concerned with tomorrow's breakfast menu than whether your kids will even eat AT ALL!

We need to do away with career politicians, and put in place those that are OF the people and FOR the people. No longer those who are of the corporations and for the corporations. Its time to stop owning our politicians and deciding what's good for AMERICA by how much money you make off it.

WE, THE PEOPLE are what make up this Great Nation. Its time we remember that.

*Always thought it was funny how we name our ships with REAL MEN'S names, then refer to them as 'she'.
